Coastal Outdoor Dinner Party

Since it’s spring time, I’ve been thinking of outdoor dinner party ideas before the summer really sets in. A little lighting, some candles, great company.

What’s not to love?

But you know when you go to a big dinner party and there’s 12-16 or even 20 people facing each other on an endlessly long table?

You know how you only get to talk to the people in your section of the table?  🙁

I decided that I wanted a dinner party where the guests could really mingle, so my husband and I built two oversized farm style tables and created just that.

Teal and white linens, candles, string lights and sunset on the water. A perfect outdoor dinner party. Read more about it on my blog.

This set up comfortably seats 4 people per side, for a total of 16.

We tested this out at Thanksgiving Dinner, and this is what it ended up looking like.

Nothing on the table scape is tall enough to obscure anyone’s view. That was intentional.

The string lights provided just the right amount of warmth, and the candles brought it all together.

There was a cool breeze, so I had a stack of cozy throw blankets for anyone who wanted one. You can see them in the background on that bench below.

It was magical and beautiful and a perfect evening. This would work in a back yard just as easily as it did here.
